Listening to Trigg & Gusset's music - a blend of noir jazz, atmospheric electronics, and captivating grooves - sparked my imagination and ignited my creativity. Fueled by pure artistic passion, I decided to design a vinyl cover that would pay homage to the music that had touched my soul. My aim was to capture the very essence of Trigg & Gusset last album “Black Ocean”, to convey their melodic magic through textures and graphic elements, and bring my own unique vision to life, despite knowing that the gentlemen prefer a minimalist and austere design. I decided to go for my own.

I aimed to create an immersive audio experience that captures the repeating and dense nature of individual sound lines, creating a sense of tension and release that draws the listener in. The use of circles symbolically leads the listener deeper into the misty and murky soundscapes, adding an air of mystery and intrigue to the overall composition. In addiction circles symbolically indicate the direction of the echo, creating a sense of being shrouded in darkness, mist, and dampness, while also offering moments of relaxation and release. The dark hues and subtle textures used in the project convey the dampness and humidity of the Scandinavian environment, further enhancing the sense of mystery. The patina texture of the background and the natural color of gray-green with a hint of bronze, reminiscent of the color of damp moss, create an ethereal and otherworldly atmosphere that adds to the sensory experience. The repetition creates a sharp and modern geometrical pattern of melodic lines that form a hypnotic rhythm, guiding the listener through the music. Overall, my project aims to create a fully immersive sensory experience that takes the listener on a journey through sound and emotion.

Trigg & Gusset's unique approach to experimenting with combining noir jazz with electronics, while maintaining their characteristic Scandinavian atmosphere, makes their work even more intriguing. As more and more artists explore the theme of noir jazz, which gained popularity through groups like Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble and Bohren & der Club of Gore, Trigg & Gusset offer a more stable rhythmic foundation, integrating electronic elements that evoke dark and haunting sounds.

Their latest album, created during the pandemic, combines traditional jazz elements with modern electronic sounds, creating a distinctive atmosphere and an incredible listening experience. This album is not only for fans of noir jazz, but for anyone searching for fresh and innovative sounds. Personally, my favorite track from the album Black Ocean is Galatea.
